Your first watch face

Choose your watch, edit a template, preview it, and save a backup.

Dial Studio supports Garmin watches during beta. Check the device catalog for your model.

1. Open Studio

Choose Open Studio on this website. Use a desktop or laptop with a keyboard and mouse or trackpad. You can design in the browser without installing tools or connecting a watch.

2. Choose your watch

In Studio, open Devices, find your exact model, and open its details. Choose Set as default device. This sets the screen size used for new designs.

If your model is missing, check the device catalog. You can explore the editor with another model, but its build will not be suitable for your watch.

3. Use a template

Open Marketplace, choose a template such as Simple, then select Use template. Studio creates a project copy for you to edit. Change its name in the field at the top of the editor.

4. Change the design

Select the time layer in Layers on the left. Change its color or size in the settings panel on the right. Drag it on the canvas to move it.

Choose Add element to add a date, steps, or battery level. Start with a few elements so the time stays easy to read.

5. Preview your face

Choose Preview, then use Simulate time to check different times. Look for text that overlaps or runs off the screen. Data such as steps and heart rate uses sample values, not readings from your watch.

Choose Back to editor or press Escape to keep editing.

6. Save a backup

Changes save automatically. Wait for the save status to finish before closing Studio. Your design will be in Projects when you return to the same browser profile.

For a separate file backup, open Settings → Storage & data → Export. Select your project and confirm the export. Keep the file somewhere you can find it.

Browser projects do not sync between computers or into the desktop app. See backup and import steps before moving your work or clearing browser data.

Put the face on your watch

A saved design must be built into a watch file before you can install it over USB. These steps need the desktop app; public desktop downloads are coming soon.

Once you have the desktop app, follow setup, build, then install. While designing, use the editor guide to explore all the available controls.
